Getting an appointment as a new patient was a breeze, but when I arrived on my appointment date, I was not on schedule. Thank goodness, the Spanish-speaking lady ( I apologized for not having her name) at the desk took care of the problem. Dr. Kavaler saw me; she is a knowledgeable, professional, and matter-of-fact person. The test and procedure were all done there. The results are released and read immediately, which is lovely. I did not get anything when I requested a copy of my results and the discharge plan (all my other doctors provided me) and asked that it be sent via email. I called twice on a different day, and the same thing happened. I hope my PMD got the faxed copy they claimed they sent. Otherwise, the reason for a three-star is valid.

I wonder why other doctor’s office couldn’t run like this one ? I think this office is truly patient-centered to the smallest details. Two examples : 1. when I asked if I can have an earlier appointment because I had problems for a week it only took less than a 5 minute wait for the front desk to get me a next day appointment. When I was checking in, I noticed that although the office was very full of patients it was so orderly almost cheerfully. 2. the ultrasound professional a young lady attentively alternate her sequence of examination to address my possible bathroom needs as soon as she was aware. Dr. Kavaler was professional and caring addressing my concerns with clarity. I hope I won’t have to see her for a long time. But I would recommend her to anyone who is in need of a urologist.

Went through several screenings and other procedures then met the Dr. and for what I was dealing with this was the medical professional for me. My wife has multiple tendon tears and is extremely fragile due to a long-standing connective tissue disease. She is mostly bedridden, and taking her to any new doctor for an exam or a procedure is an incredibly risky and nerve racking experience. As an introduction, I usually email the doctor a lengthy note describing my wife’s unique situation. If we get any acknowledgement at all from a doctor’s office of having received the note, it’s usually from a staff member, and it becomes apparent that the dr has not read the information. In contrast, Dr Kavaler not only personally responded to each and every message we sent, but she also made helpful recommendations which calmed our fears. In addition, when we actually arrived, her staff was incredibly helpful and understanding, and made sure my wife was ok. Lauren, who did the CT scan, was practically standing on her head in order get at the area she needed to scan without risking further injury to my wife. Dr Kavaler then came in and spent a great deal of time with us, to the point where I actually started to feel a little guilty for taking so much of her time. A few days later I delivered an MRI report at the end of the day when it looked like they were closing up. Instead of leaving it for the Dr as is our normal experience with other providers, Dr Kavaler’s staff took it right back to her. Within minutes Dr Kavaler had read the report and came out to give me an update, which I absolutely was not expecting. Dr Kavaler and Lauren’s concern and and care for my wife’s unique situation truly blew us both away! I simply cannot praise and thank them enough!

I was particularly struck by a protocol I had never before encountered. The technician who performed my ultrasound was asked by the doctor how it went. I have been a patient of Dr. Kavaler for about 10 years. She is remarkable. Not only brilliant but she is one of the kindest doctors you will ever speak with. As women, we don't talk about our vaginas and bladder and uterus. Dr. Kavaler prepared me for Vaginal atrophy which is common in women in their 60's. Due to a previous DVT I have not been able to use any estrogen based product to help moisturize my vagina. Dr. Kavaler introduced me to the Mona Lisa laser machine which is a brilliant device. It is a laser that goes inside and outside of your vagina to bring back youthful new tissue. It works so well!! I am being quite open, because most doctors don't even talk to you about this. I think every woman should at least have a consultation with Dr. Kavaler to see what they can do to age gracefully. She will be a guide through the "unspoken world of women's urology problems," whether they be UTI's or incontinence.
